Harvest One Cannabis Inc. is facing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia from its former chief executive officer, Andreas Gedeon. The suit claims that Harvest One breached an agreement in which it would have paid Mr. Gedeon $525,000 after firing him for no reason. Mr. Gedeon is seeking a court order enforcing the payment.

The allegations are contained in a notice of claim that Mr. Gedeon filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Aug. 30, 2018. According to the suit, Mr. Gedeon founded two companies that eventually became part of Harvest One. The company went public through an agreement with a shell, with the transaction resulting in Mr. Gedeon being Harvest One's CEO, starting in April, 2017.

It appears from the suit that all went as expected until May, 2018, when the company's board and Mr. Gedeon began discussions about finding a CEO with more corporate experience. Mr. Gedeon says that he was part of the process, and undertook efforts to find his own replacement. He eventually identified Grant Froese (who was the chief operating officer of Loblaw Companies Ltd.).
