Golden Share stakes nine claim blocks at Berens River

2014-07-23 09:39 ET - News Release

Mr. Philippe Giaro reports

GOLDEN SHARE STAKING JOINS BERENS NORTH AND SOUTH BLOCKS

Golden Share Mining Corp. has staked additional claims on its Berens River project in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. The recently staked area consists of nine claim blocks covering approximately 19 square kilometres.

The new claims join the northern and southern claim blocks of the Berens River property and establish a unified and continuous land package for a total surface area of 56 square kilometres covering the extension of the geological formations host to the past-producing Berens River gold-silver mine. The new claims are underlain by similar rock types, which include mafic to felsic metavolcanic rocks, lesser quantities of clastic and chemical metasediments, and a variety of subvolcanic intrusions, notably the Setting Net Lake stock, an epizonal granodiorite-granite pluton.

This new land position provides Golden Share with an improved strategic package to cover a highly prospective area. The recent fieldwork program at Berens River has highlighted a broad spectrum of mineralization types, including:

  • Berens vein No. 1 and 3 type:
    • Gold-silver-lead-zinc-bearing quartz-actinolite-sulphide veins and veinlets hosted within felsic volcanic rocks with two types of associated alteration: quartz-sericite alteration and chlorite-actinolite-garnet-magnetite alteration.
  • Felsic-intrusion-vein-related type:
    • Quartz-sulphide veinlets and disseminated sulphides containing gold and base metals within felsic to intermediate intrusions.
  • Porphyry type:
    • Porphyry-type molybdenite mineralization within the Setting Net Lake stock.

Specifically on the Berens Southern block:

  • A copper zone along a felsic unit, which had never been sampled for gold;
  • A gold zone associated with a quartz-diorite and a fault zone with gold mineralization hosted in chalcopyrite-bearing quartz veinlets (Doyon-type mineralization);
  • Arsenic bearing veins:
    1. Au-As (copper, silver);
    2. Au-Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag (arsenic).

All these occurrences are part of a broad metallogenic system also underlying the newly staked claims where pyrite and pyrrhotite, with lesser chalcopyrite, sphalerite and rarely molybdenite, occur in thin sedimentary horizons at various locations, while pyrite-pyrrhotite mineralization also occurs in mafic volcanic rocks with historical sampling reporting values up to 43 parts per billion gold, 1.6 parts per million silver, 981 parts per million copper and 393 parts per million zinc. Golden Share is in the process of assessing the results from its recent field program and will provide further technical updates in due course.

Golden Share's exploration programs are executed under the supervision of Laurence Huss, MSc, PGeo, a qualified person as defined in National Instrument 43-101 and vice-president, exploration, of Golden Share. Philippe Giaro, PGeo, president and chief executive officer of Golden Share and a qualified person for Golden Share, has reviewed and approved the content of this release.
