GM REPORTS NET REVENUE OF $37 BILLION AND INCOME OF $2.4 BILLION FROM CONTINUING OPERATIONS

General Motors Company had strong second quarter earnings and revenue from continuing operations driven by robust results in North America and China, solid improvement in South America, and continued growth of GM Financial (all amounts are in U.S. dollars).

Second quarter 2017 highlights

  • Earnings per share, diluted, of $1.60, down 8 per cent, and adjusted EPS, diluted, of $1.89, up 5.6 per cent;
  • Consolidated adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of $3.7-billion and adjusted EBIT margin of 10.0 per cent;
  • North America adjusted EBIT of $3.5-billion and adjusted EBIT margin of 12.2 per cent;
  • GM Financial EBT of $400-million, up 67 per cent.

Income from continuing operations to common stockholders includes a net loss from special items of $700-million before tax, or 29 cents per diluted share, for the quarter. Special items included $500-million related to GM international operations restructuring, $100-million due to Venezuela deconsolidation and approximately $100-million for legal matters related to the ignition switch recall.
