The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Sept. 19, edition that Middlefield Capital portfolio manager Robert Lauzon is keen on Enbridge ($44.85 (Canadian)). The Globe's Shirley Won writes that Mr. Lauzon says shares of the Calgary-based pipeline operator are poised to climb now that some headwinds have become tailwinds. Mr. Lauzon says investor concern about its profitability rose when oil traded at $40 (U.S.) a barrel, but it is less of an issue at nearly $70 (U.S.). He says pipeline and other dividend stocks have been hurt by rising interest rates, but "the adjustment has happened, so interest-sensitive stocks are no longer out of favour." Minnesota regulators recently approved Enbridge's bid to replace its Line 3 oil pipeline despite opposition by environmentalists. The Globe's guest columnist Sean Pugliese said Enbridge was focused on safety and value in the Number Cruncher column on June 14. The shares were then worth $42.13 (Canadian). The Globe's John Heinzl recommended buying Enbridge in the Yield Hog column on July 18. In the item, Mr. Heinzl said the stock still had room to run. The stock was then worth $45.49 (Canadian).
