The Financial Post reports in its Saturday, Aug. 5, edition that Cenovus Energy has received separate bids from Canadian Natural Resources, ARC Financial and others for a heavy oil project in Pelican Lake, Alberta, according to unnamed sources who told Reuters the project was valued at as much as $1-billion (U.S,). A Reuters dispatch to the Post reports that Calgary-based Cenovus is also in advanced talks to sell another oil project in Suffield, Alta., which is likely to fetch between $500-million (Canadian) and $600-million (Canadian). Cenovus has also received strong inbound interest from TransCanada, Enbridge, Pembina Pipeline, Keyera and Inter Pipeline for buying all or parts of separate mid-stream assets in the Deep basin. But there was no formal sale process happening for Deep basin, a region that straddles Alberta and B.C., unnamed sources say.
