The Vancouver Sun reports in its Wednesday edition that Donnelly Group, a chain of pubs and restaurants, is going for the trifecta: pot, booze and food.
The Sun's David Carrigg writes that on Monday the company plans to open nine Hobo recreational cannabis stores in rapid succession across British Columbia and Ontario beginning next month. Eight of the nine outlets were confirmed for B.C., including Robson Street, Granville Street, Main Street and Commercial Drive. A provincial government spokesman said the Donnelly Group had not yet been issued any operating licences from the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.
Donnelly's Harrison Stoker said his company had received one of only five Eastern Ontario pot retail licences for a planned opening in Ottawa.
In B.C., in order to open a cannabis retail store, the operator needs a municipal licence and, more importantly, a licence from the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.
In its most recent statement, the B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch said that it was continuing to roll out its network of B.C. Cannabis stores across the province.
Since legalization, the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch has issued 14 private licences across the province.
