Canaccord Genuity Corp. has reached an out-of-court deal in a $2.49-million lawsuit that it faced in the Supreme Court of British Columbia from Peter Virvilis, its former treasurer. Mr. Virvilis had claimed that Canaccord fired him for no good reason after he moved to Toronto at the firm's request. He had sought damages equal to two years of salary.
The end of the lawsuit is contained in a consent order filed on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Vancouver courthouse. The order simply states that the suit is dismissed, with each side to pay its own legal fees. The order does not state what, if anything, Canaccord paid to settle the matter, although Mr. Virvilis had sought $2.49-million.
