Canaccord Genuity Corp. has reached an out-of-court deal with Andrew Jappy, a fired executive who was suing the firm in the Supreme Court of British Columbia for wrongful dismissal. He had claimed that Canaccord fired him from his job of 20 years for no good reason. The dismissal came just one year after he had moved to Toronto from Vancouver to keep his position.
The case had not yet been to trial (with an April 10, 2017, date being adjourned). It is not clear what Mr. Jappy received to settle the matter, if anything. The end of his lawsuit is contained in a very brief consent order filed on Monday, June 12, which simply states that the case is dismissed, with both sides paying their own legal bills.
