Canaccord Genuity Corp. is facing a wrongful dismissal lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia from Andre Bleim, a trader who had worked for the firm since 1999. He claims that Canaccord fired him for no good reason on Sept. 16, 2016. He is seeking damages for lack of notice.
The allegations are contained in a brief notice of claim that Mr. Bleim filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Nov. 4, 2016. Mr. Bleim identifies himself as an unemployed trader. He lists his compensation from Canaccord as averaging $240,000 per year for the last three years. His employment at Canaccord, as described in the suit, was governed by a contract which specified that he could not be fired without reasonable notice or pay in lieu of that notice.
