Canaccord Genuity Group Inc.'s chief executive officer, Paul Reynolds, has died in hospital in Hawaii, where he was recovering from a triathlon incident. He had been swimming when he lost consciousness. Canaccord's board confirmed the death of Mr. Reynolds, 52, in a statement Thursday, and announced that it had appointed the firm's chairman, David Kassie, as his replacement.
Mr. Reynolds's passing comes about eight years after he became CEO at Canaccord, succeeding Peter Brown. He had been an employee of the firm since 1985, when he joined it as a broker. During his time at Canaccord, he worked in institutional sales and managed its European operations from London, England, working there from 1999 to 2007.
