BCE's CTV's Masterchef sends DiCerbo home in 12th show

2014-04-08 06:35 ET - News Release

Ms. Tanya Koivusalo reports

DONUT DISASTER ENDS IN DEFEAT - PINO DICERBO IS THE ELEVENTH HOME COOK ELIMINATED FROM CTV'S MASTERCHEF CANADA; THE REMAINING FIVE HOME COOKS ARE REUNITED WITH THEIR FAMILIES FOR AN EMOTIONAL CULINARY CHALLENGE ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF MASTERCHEF CANADA

At the conclusion of last night's episode of BCE Inc.'s CTV's Masterchef Canada featuring the classic Masterchef Team Challenge, the Restaurant Takeover, Pino DiCerbo, a stay-at-home dad from Mississauga, Ont., was eliminated from the culinary competition series.

Episode 12 recap

The home cooks arrive at Origin North, the restaurant of Masterchef Canada's own judge, Claudio Aprile, and are charged with the ultimate, classic Masterchef Challenge: the Restaurant Takeover. Tammara Behl and Mr. DiCerbo are the team captains, following their victory in the last elimination challenge. But their tenure as leaders does not go well for long, as the food service is marred by delays and disappointment. Ms. Behl's Red Team ultimately wins over the judges and Mr. Aprile's loyal diners, leaving Mr. DiCerbo, Marida Mohammed and Eric Chong to the dreaded pressure test -- a doughnut dessert bake-off. Ms. Mohammed's treats turn out well, and it comes down to taste being the deciding factor between Mr. Chong and Mr. DiCerbo's less visually appealing creations. Despite being messy on presentation, Mr. Chong's delicious doughnuts beat out Mr. DiCerbo's, sending him home.

Masterchef Canada airs Mondays at 8 p.m./7 p.m. CT on CTV and CTV GO (visit CTV's website to confirm local broadcast times). Last night's episode is now available on demand at the CTV website and the CTV GO app.
