James Kwantes, in the Jan. 19, 2017, edition of Resource Opportunities, refreshes his buy of Atac Resources Ltd., recently 46 cents. Mr. Kwantes previously said buy on Sept. 22, 2015, at 45 cents and on Jan. 5, 2017, at 43.5 cents. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the two buys, the $2,000 position is now worth $2,079. Mr. Kwantes is looking forward to Atac's ambitious 2017 exploration program at its Rackla project in the Yukon. The company plans to spend about $10-million to drill 15,000 metres at Rackla, a 1,700-square-kilometre property in Canada's only Carlin-type gold district. Drill results from Rackla are regularly "off-the-charts rich," marvels Mr. Kwantes, pointing to highlights such as 38.8 metres grading 17.11 grams per tonne gold and 30.79 metres grading 9.5 g/t gold. He expects Atac to enjoy further drilling success at Rackla this year. Yet investment in Atac is "not for the faint of heart," he warns. The stock spent 2016 tripling to nearly $1 from 30 cents before reversing course and falling toward today's level of 46 cents. Years ago, in the summer of 2011, the stock got as high as $10. Mr. Kwantes says Atac's shares tend to move on news of a discovery and on rising gold prices.
