Alix Resources finds Li-rich clay zone at Electra

2016-10-11 08:28 ET - News Release

Mr. Michael England reports

ALIX DISCOVERS NEW LITHIUM-RICH CLAY ZONE AND SECURES AGUA FRIA PROPERTY, EXTENDING THE ELECTRA PROJECT, SONORA, MEXICO

Alix Resources Corp. has made a new, significant, lithium-rich clay discovery located near its Tule concession, Electra project, Sonora, Mexico. The lithium-rich clay mineralization has been traced for approximately one kilometre on the newly applied-for property named Agua Fria. The mineralization is dipping shallowly to the east with an apparent thickness of 20 to 30 metres. Sampling of the clay horizons has been completed with samples in the laboratory.

Mike England, president of Alix, stated, "We are very excited to have discovered new lithium-rich clay horizons with strongly anomalous lithium values and are pleased to have successful submitted a new application to cover the strike and dip continuation of these sedimentary units."

The new lithium clay discovery and the recently applied-for Agua Fria property will also comprise a portion of the Electra project, which Alix jointly owns with global lithium developer Lithium Australia NL, which is currently financing the exploration activities.

Lithium Australia's chief executive officer Adrian Griffin commented: "The significance of high lithium tenors in the initial samples should not be underestimated. We are very optimistic about the direction we are headed with Alix and look forward to exploration success as the program unfolds."

  • The discovery resulted from the company's continuing geological and prospecting activities directed toward the Tule concession.
  • Reconnaissance sampling from two sites of clay mineralization in banded sediments returned 347, 353 and 880 parts per million Li from the northern cluster, and 950 and 1,000 ppm Li from the southern cluster (about 1.7 kilometres to the southeast). These are the highest lithium values received by the company to date from the Electra project and are strongly anomalous.
  • The company has successfully submitted a concession application for the available open ground that is on trend with the sedimentary units hosting the lithium-rich clay mineralization.
  • Field crews remain on-site continuing this phase of exploration.
