The TSX Venture Exchange closed up 1.15 points to 602.92 Monday. Neil Currie has filed a preliminary prospectus to list his first capital pool shell, First Light Capital Corp. It plans to sell a $200,000 to $300,000 initial public offering at 10 cents through Leede Jones Gable Inc.

Mr. Currie, 33, is an investor relations man in Vancouver. From 2006 to 2008, he was the IR man for Candente Resources Corp., a Latin American mining junior of which one of the directors was his father, James Currie, a mining engineer. Mr. Currie Sr. has worked with a couple of resource issuers under Robert Friedland, for instance, Ivanhoe Mines Inc. While the Currie father and son were with Candente Resources, the stock traded up to $2.46. In 2010, after both men had left the company, it split itself into Candente Copper Corp. (DNT: $0.055) and Candente Gold Corp. (CDG: $0.015). Mr. Currie Sr. has been a director of about two dozen public companies in the last three decades, most of them mining juniors. These days, he sits on the board of OK2 Minerals Ltd. (OK: $0.02), which plans to roll back 1 for 3, raise $600,000 at six cents, and acquire mining projects in Norway and Sweden.
