The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.04 points to 643.58 Friday, ending the week down 38.58 points. Two capital pool shells have listed: Dr. Len Brownlie's first shell, Discovery One Investment Corp. (DOIT: $0.20), and Robert Munro's 10th shell, County Capital One Ltd. (CCAP). Dr. Brownlie's Discovery One sold a $1-million initial public offering, five times larger than the typical shell IPO, at the usual 10 cents. Its IPO agent was Canaccord Genuity Corp. Today, Discovery One traded 1,700 shares at 20 cents. Mr. Munro's County Capital One sold a $500,000 IPO at 10 cents, also through Canaccord. Its stock has yet to trade.

Dr. Brownlie holds a PhD in kinesiology. His Vancouver company, Aerosports Research, has a wind-tunnel facility where it tests apparel for skiers, cyclists, runners and hockey players. Dr. Brownlie has also been a director or officer of more than 15 public mining companies since the mid-1980s. From 2001 to 2016, he was the president and chief executive officer of a Burkina Faso gold explorer, Goldrush Resources Ltd., which peaked at a modest 43 cents. Goldrush is now a part of First Mining Gold Corp. (FF: $0.31). Dr. Brownlie plans to seek a mining deal for Discovery One's qualifying transaction.
