The TSX Venture Exchange lost 1.42 points to 705.95 Monday. Julian Klymochko's first capital pool shell, Red River Capital Corp. (XBT: $0.15), began trading today following a $300,000 initial public offering at 10 cents. Its IPO agent was Canaccord Genuity Corp. The stock opened at 12 cents and closed at 15 cents on 22,500 shares.

Mr. Klymochko, 34, is a chartered financial analyst in Calgary. From August, 2009, to February, 2018, he was the chief investment officer of Ross Smith Asset Management Inc. On Feb. 26, 2018, this asset manager announced that it was going to return its investors' money and shut down. It calculated that its three funds had generated the following cumulative returns: 40 per cent for the Ross Smith Opportunities Fund, 94 per cent for the Ross Smith Capital Investment Fund and 106 per cent for the Ross Smith Cryptocurrency Investment Fund. Nevertheless, it "simply couldn't attract enough interest in the funds."
