The TSX Venture Exchange fell 3.73 points to 725.24 Friday, ending the week down 14.86 points. Al Kroontje's capital pool shell, Big Dougie Capital Corp. (STUV: $0.10), has listed following a $200,000 initial public offering at 10 cents. Its IPO agent was PI Financial Corp. Not unusually for a shell, it did not trade. The shell is named after Mr. Kroontje's late best friend, Douglas Stuve, a lawyer who died at 49 in November.

Mr. Kroontje is an engineer and the executive chairman of Lithium Chile Inc. (LITH: $0.81). He has provided deals for about 10 shells since the 1990s, including some shells that he founded himself. In the last 15 years, he has listed three capital pool shells. Those three shells yielded two successes and one failure for their IPO investors, as we last discussed in the Shell Summary for March 6, 2018. We consider a capital pool shell to have been a success if its IPO shareholders had sufficient opportunity to get out of their investment with a profit, reasonably soon after the shell closed its QT.
