The TSX Venture Exchange lost 4.18 points to 761.76 Monday. William Kanters has listed his first capital pool shell, High Mountain Capital Corp. (BUZD), with a $350,000 initial public offering at 10 cents through Haywood Securities Inc. The stock opened at 13 cents and closed at 15 cents on 67,000 shares. Mr. Kanters, 48, studied geophysics and was a director of Athabasca Minerals Inc. (ABM: $0.16) from 2012 to 2015. During that period, Athabasca Minerals traded up to $3.20. Earlier, from 2004 to 2009, Mr. Kanters was a managing director of Haywood Securities in Calgary.

Joining Mr. Kanters on the board of High Mountain are Daniel Hachey, Gordon Winter, Richard Smith and Dale Burstall. Mr. Hachey, 59, was a senior vice-president at HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc. from 1998 to 2001, before which he held the same position at Midland Walwyn Capital Inc. from 1992 to 1998. He has been a director of a few public companies and the president of a couple of capital markets advisory firms, currently one called Palo Alto Partners Canada Inc. The next shell director, Mr. Winter, 57, is a portfolio manager with Mackenzie Investments Corp. The next, Mr. Smith, 63, is the chief executive officer of a dormant mining junior, Buccaneer Gold Corp. (BGG: $0.10). The final shell director, Mr. Burstall, 58, is a Calgary lawyer and the shell's secretary. He is also the secretary and a director of an oil and gas junior, Marksmen Energy Inc. (MAH: $0.16).
