The TSX Venture Exchange slipped a fraction to 772.28 Monday. One capital pool shell has completed its qualifying transaction, while three others have cancelled theirs. Daniel Drimmer's capital pool shell, Campar Capital Corp. (CHK), has completed its acquisition of an 80-per-cent interest in the Boardwalk Med Center apartment complex in San Antonio, Tex., for $28.44-million (U.S.). The shell paid $4.25-million (U.S.) in cash and covered the rest with a mortgage and a mezzanine loan. The seller of the interest was a Texan couple, real estate broker Gary Gill and lawyer Robyn Gill.

Today Campar completed another transaction, a merger with four TSX-V-listed funds managed by Mr. Drimmer's private real estate company, Starlight Investments Ltd. The four Starlight funds had a combined portfolio of 19 properties across Canada and the Southern United States. Now, the awkwardly but usefully named resulting issuer, Starlight U.S. Multi-Family (No. 5) Core Fund (SUA), has a portfolio of 20 properties, including Boardwalk Med Center.
