The TSX Venture Exchange rose 10.97 points to 834.47 Wednesday. Harry Chew and Sonny Chew's halted capital pool shell, Shogun Capital Corp. (SHO), plans to acquire International Cannabis Corp. for the shell's qualifying transaction. Shogun, which has 6,200,010 shares issued, will issue 80 million shares to International Cannabis's shareholders. The target is one of only two licensed growers of recreational cannabis in Uruguay. It began growing its cannabis plants in March, 2016, and harvesting them in June. It hopes to begin sales this month.

Uruguay legalized recreational cannabis in December, 2013. So far, it is the only country to have done this without limiting consumption to small amounts. Four countries allow the possession or cultivation of small amounts for personal use: Colombia, Jamaica, the Netherlands and Spain. (In Spain, you can neither consume nor grow cannabis within public view.) In Uruguay, the limit is not small, but it still exists. Citizens or residents, aged at least 18, may buy up to 40 grams a month. (Tourists may not buy any.) Uruguayans of age may also grow up to six plants at a time at home. All they need to do to buy or grow recreational cannabis is register their names with the government. Each time they buy, they must provide a thumbprint to prove their identity.
