The TSX Venture Exchange rose 7.56 points to 757.65 Wednesday. Joanne Yan has filed a preliminary prospectus to list her third capital pool shell, Avanco Capital Corp. Haywood Securities Inc. is selling the shell's $500,000 initial public offering of five million shares at 10 cents.

Avanco also has two million escrowed shares, which it sold at five cents in April, 2016. Ms. Yan holds 800,000 of the escrowed shares, while her two fellow Avanco directors, Sidney Dutchak and Hunter Wang, hold 600,000 escrowed shares each.

Ms. Yan, 58, has over a decade of experience with Canadian shells as well as Chinese businesses, and must have many stories to tell. She was a director of Gerald Cook's Alberta Stock Exchange-listed capital pool shell, Pacific Star Resources Corp., which in 2002 launched a Chinese tourism company, Virtual China Travel Services Co. Ltd., now called Mountain China Resorts (Holding) Ltd. (MCG: $0.005). Virtual China peaked at 60 cents in 2002. Ms. Yan was also a director of Xia Xu's capital pool shell, China Drill Corp., which in 2008 launched a Chinese steelmaker, Yalian Steel Corp. Yalian peaked at $2.43 in 2009, then in 2013 it was taken private by its chairman, Xinduo Yu.
