The TSX Venture Exchange added 8.41 points to 695.53 Wednesday, ending the month down 46.34 points. The year ends with the TSX-V down a disappointing 236.44 points, or 25 per cent below the last day of 2013. A total of 21 capital pool shells listed on the TSX-V this year, compared with 37 in 2013. Ronald Schmeichel, the most successful shell packager on the TSX-V these days, listed the last shell of the year, Mira VI Acquisition Corp. (MVI), which arrived Dec. 18. He will probably be the first to close a QT in the New Year. His capital pool shell, WB III Acquisition Corp. (WXX), will soon complete its acquisition of Tictoc Planet Inc., the creator of an ephemeral messaging app called Frankly. The busiest brokerage firm in the capital pool shell business in 2014 was Richardson GMP Ltd., which listed five shells, followed by Canaccord Genuity Corp. with four. Raymond James Ltd. and PI Financial Corp. each listed three.
