The TSX Venture Exchange added 1.21 points to 777.84 Monday. Rocky Bellotti's first capital pool shell, BFK Capital Corp. (BFK), listed today, closing at 80 cents on 4,500 shares. The close was 20 cents higher than the shell's pricey 60-cent initial public offering, a good start for young Mr. Bellotti. BFK will likely find a qualifying transaction in the mining sector.

So far this year, 18 capital pool shells have listed on the TSX-V, half as many as had listed last year by this time, but more are on the way. Ron Schmeichel, a prolific shell packager in Toronto, has filed a preliminary prospectus for a new capital pool shell, Mira VI Acquisition Corp. It will be his second capital pool shell listing this year. Last September, shell-meister Schmeichel listed his Mira IV Acquisition Corp. (MRY), which has already requested a halt to plan its acquisition of a medical device company as its QT. Next up is Mira VI; there is no Mira V. The Calgary office of Richardson GMP Ltd. is handling Mira VI's $250,000 IPO of 2.5 million shares at 10 cents.
