The TSX Venture Exchange added 18.2 points to 810.13 Friday, ending the week down 17 points. Laurie Sadler's halted capital pool shell, Valiant Minerals Ltd. (VTM), still plans to acquire Convalo Health International Corp., which owns an addiction rehab clinic in Hollywood, as its qualifying transaction. The shell requested a halt from the TSX-V to report the deal more than a year ago, but it has yet to file an information circular detailing its QT.

Valiant has now revealed it will roll back its shares 1:2, leaving it with 5.9 million postconsolidated shares, and then issue 71,089,550 postconsolidated shares to Convalo shareholders and subscription receiptholders. Since reporting this QT last year, Convalo has acquired a rehab clinic in Hollywood, BLVD Treatment Center, which offers the usual 12-step recovery program plus yoga classes, meditation, treatment spas and other services. Convalo acquired the clinic on May 1, 2014, and says that since then it has earned $6,000 on revenue of $600,000. On the BLVD website, the clinic describes its interior as a cool, comfortable, boutique atmosphere -- here comes the important part -- "that is suited to our creative clientele." Further establishing its image as a place where the beautiful people go, it carries on, "Our clients in the LA area have spent their lives in cool clubs, hip boutique hotels and elegant restaurants -- or if not, they've aspired to." BLVD also says its clients look forward to arriving and often do not want to leave. There is more but you get the picture. Convalo plans to acquire more addiction rehab treatment centres in the U.S. once this QT closes. It sees plenty of opportunity in the addiction rehab business, noting that recent regulations in the U.S., including Obamacare and the Parity Act, require private health insurance companies that offer coverage for mental illnesses and alcohol and drug rehabilitation to provide those benefits in a way that is no more restrictive than coverage for other medical and surgical care. As a result, says Convalo, millions of Americans now have coverage for addiction rehab clinics.
