The TSX Venture Exchange added 8.15 points to 919.42 Friday. The venture exchange, which until today had declined for nine straight days, ended the week down 35.64 points.
Josh Gerstein's NEX shell, Everfront Ventures Corp. (EVC), has a new large shareholder, Robert Campbell Becher's Orchid Capital Partners Corp., which acquired one million shares from the market in two trades earlier this month at five cents a share for $50,000. Mr. Becher is now Everfront's largest shareholder with 18.2 per cent of the shell's 6,240,550 shares issued. He is the former chief executive officer of Byron Capital Markets, a small Toronto broker that went out of business last May. The following month, in June, Mr. Becher admitted to the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada that in 2010 he failed to adequately supervise a Byron research analyst and settled on a fine of $24,000 plus costs, a mild penalty for a mild violation.
