West Texas Intermediate crude for April delivery lost 90 cents to $63.01 on the New York Merc, while Brent for April lost 87 cents to $66.63 (all figures in this para U.S.). Pieridae Energy Ltd. (PEA) gained 59 cents to $5.59 on 91,800 shares, after announcing that it will raise up to $10-billion (U.S.) to build its Goldboro natural gas liquefaction plant and export terminal in Nova Scotia. It has not yet set the financing terms, but it has signed on Morgan Stanley and Societe Generale to help with the financing. Pieridae's president and chief executive officer, Alfred Sorensen, was on BNN this morning, basking in congratulations from his interviewer for the involvement of the two financing helpers. When asked whether Pieridae considered involving Canadian banks, Mr. Sorensen said yes, but he explained that Canadian banks are more cautious and conservative. Meanwhile, he added, it is enough for Morgan Stanley and Societe Generale that Pieridae has a 20-year take-or-pay contract with one future Goldboro customer, Uniper SE, a German energy company. Mr. Sorensen noted in the interview that Pieridae is "very close" to making a final investment decision on Goldboro.
