New York spot gold added $3.30 to $1,233.20 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 8.71 points to 641.82 while the TSX Gold Index dipped 3.71 points to 168.02. Goldcorp Inc. (G) led Canadian gold miners lower today. It lost 37 cents to $13.59 on 4.44 million shares, while Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) was down 17 cents to $3.87 on 2.89 million shares. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG), down on an up day yesterday, was one of a few gainers today. It added four cents to $12.76 on 419,000 shares.

Tara Christie's Banyan Gold Corp. (BYN), up one-half cent to five cents on 1.34 million shares, has received assays of up to 1.06 grams of gold per tonne over 70.7 metres at its Aurex-McQuesten project in central Yukon. The interval included a 15.1-metre zone that averaged 3.05 grams per tonne. The assays, from the first four holes of a 12-hole program, yielded lengthy hits in the three other tests, but with markedly lower grades. One produced 0.32 gram per tonne across 80.3 metres and another managed 0.30 gram per tonne over 68.1 metres.
