New York spot gold fell $5.00 to $1,201.10 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 12.18 points to 714.32 while the TSX Gold Index dipped 0.43 point to 152.47. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) dropped six cents to $1.09 on 2.95 million shares while Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) dropped 14 cents to $3.14 on 1.55 million shares. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) was strong, adding seven cents to $3.75 on 5.14 million shares.
Robert Dodds and Quentin Yarie's Red Pine Exploration Inc. (RPX), unchanged at five cents on 952,000 shares, has received assays of up to 22.8 grams of gold per tonne over 1.74 metres from over 13,200 metres of what the company calls "historic core sampling" at Surluga, on the Wawa gold project in Northern Ontario.
