New York spot gold gained $8.00 to $1,206.10 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 4.30 points to 726.50 while the TSX Gold Index added 3.67 points to 152.90. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) was strong again today, adding 31 cents to $10.29 on 641,000 shares, as was Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) that added 65 cents to $11.02 on 1.45 million shares.

Ken Booth's Gitennes Exploration Inc. (GIT), down three cents to four cents on 1.61 million shares, has received assays from a 10-hole drill program at its Snowbird high-grade gold project, just west of Fort St. James in central British Columbia. The best result, 15.85 grams of gold per tonne across 0.82 metre within a 1.32-metre interval averaging 11.31 grams per tonne, might be deemed a high-grade result, but the others were disappointingly lower-grade and narrow, ranging between 2.9 and 4.81 grams per tonne across less than one metre. Drilling in the 1980s had produced assays of up to 16.26 grams of gold per tonne over four metres. Gitennes drilled 10 holes in its first phase program last year, hitting up to 16.2 grams of gold across one metre.
