New York spot gold rose $1.00 to $1,200.60 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 4.29 points to 724.71 while the TSX Gold Index lost 0.20 point to 157.38. Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) lost five cents to $4.49 on 1.47 million shares on word it has suspended mining at La Arena in Mexico because of local protesters.

Bradford Cooke's Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR), down six cents to $2.91 on 284,000 shares, has updated its resource estimate and updated a preliminary economic assessment of the Terronera project in Jalisco, Mexico. It lists 4.36 million tonnes indicated at 2.53 grams of gold and 239 grams of silver per tonne. Another 1.07 million tonnes are inferred at 2.38 grams of gold and 252 grams of silver per tonne. In all, the project hosts 436,000 ounces of gold and 42.1 million ounces of silver, or nearly 75 million ounces of silver equivalent. The indicated silver equivalent resource increased by 23 per cent and the inferred resource by 55 per cent, mainly because of improved gold grades and increased tonnages obtained by including the high-grade La Luz vein into the project.
