New York spot gold gained $5.90 to $1,246.90 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.78 point to 728.97 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.92 point to 190.68. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led Canadian gold miners higher today, adding 88 cents to $60.61 on 535,000 shares. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) went the other way, dropping 50 cents to $22.60 on 249,000 shares.
John Burzynski's Osisko Mining Inc. (OSK), up 24 cents to $2.27 on 1.96 million shares, has received assays of up to 20.4 grams of gold per tonne over 28.3 metres from a new zone, dubbed Triple 8, at its Windfall Lake gold project in the Urban district of Quebec. The assays are from Deep Underdog, one of two deep holes the company is drilling. The lengthy hit occurred at a downhole depth of nearly 1,500 metres. (The hole, and the second one at Deep Lynx, are progressing toward a target downhole depth of 2,500 metres.) The high-grade hit was unanticipated; in fact, the gold target that Osisko is chasing at Deep Underdog is still 750 metres downhole.
