New York spot gold gained $2.00 to $1,268.90 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.91 point to 756.24 while the TSX Gold Index added 2.74 points to 192.76. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) led Canadian gold miners higher, adding six cents to $4.97 on 4.47 million shares, while Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) lost 21 cents to $11.99 on 278,000 shares.
Mark Jones and Nick Appleyard's Tristar Gold Inc. (TSG), up one cent to 20 cents on 69,000 shares, has new assays from its Castelo de Sonhos project in Brazil. The assays, from another four holes of a recently completed 42-hole drill program, produced up to 1.25 grams of gold per tonne over nine metres from the Esperanca South area and 0.82 gram per tonne over six metres at Esperanca East. Two weeks ago, Tristar reported higher grades, but over shorter intervals, from 13 holes. Those results included 3.53 grams per tonne over two metres and 2.7 grams per tonne across four metres from Esperanca East.
