New York spot gold lost $6.80 to $1,267.60 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 0.04 point to 751.25 while the TSX Gold Index lost 1.05 points to 190.76. Canadian gold miners moved little again today, although Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) did add four cents to $3.61 on 4.07 million shares. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) led the retreat. It fell 31 cents to $23.30 on 404,000 shares.

Steve Roebuck's Enforcer Gold Corp. (VEIN), up one cent to 6.5 cents on 4.85 million shares, has received assays of up to 0.73 gram of gold over 219.7 metres from the MOP II gold and copper deposit on its Roger project, just north of Chibougamau in north-central Quebec. The results are presumably no surprise, as the main objective of the 11-hole, phase 1 program was to twin eight holes drilled several years ago by a previous explorer on the Main zone, for which the core is no longer available. Several of the new holes produced long intervals of gold, although the grades were generally less than one gram per tonne, save for some higher-grade subintervals. (The best result included a 57.7-metre subinterval that averaged 1.32 grams per tonne, the highest grade obtained in the latest assays.)
