New York spot gold rose $0.90 to $1,296.80 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.47 point to 775.57 while the TSX Gold Index lost 0.17 point to 189.55. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led Canadian gold miners lower today. It lost 18 cents to $57.44 on 498,000 shares. Fiore Gold Ltd. (F) added two cents to 54 cents on 113,000 shares.
John Burzynski's Osisko Mining Inc. (OSK), down six cents to $2.21 on 714,000 shares, has received assays of up to 97.6 grams of gold per tonne across 3.3 metres at its Windfall Lake project in the Urban district of northwestern Quebec. The latest assays are from 28 new holes and two wedges completed as part of an infill drilling program that focused on the Lynx deposit. There were several other high-grade hits, including 79.1 grams per tonne across 2.7 metres, 74.3 grams per tonne over 2.6 metres and 64.2 grams per tonne over three metres. In all, 19 of the 49 gold-bearing zones intercepted in the latest holes assayed at or above 10 grams per tonne.
