New York spot gold fell $1.60 to $1,291.50 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 4.18 points to 761.76 while the TSX Gold Index lost 1.21 points to 187.88. Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) led Canadian gold miners lower today, dropping 51 cents to $6.62 on 1.44 million shares. Goldcorp Inc. (G) also lost ground, falling 33 cents to $17.91 on 1.89 million shares on word it will pay a two-cent quarterly dividend. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) moved higher. It added 29 cents to $23.04 on 289,000 shares.

John Lewins's K92 Mining Inc. (KNT), down three cents to 71 cents on 281,000 shares, has received assays of up to 25.6 grams of gold and three grams of silver per tonne, accompanied by 0.45 per cent copper, over a true width of 3.85 metres. The assay is from another grade control hole drilled at its Kora North Extension zone on the Kainantu project in the Eastern Highlands district of Papua New Guinea. In mid-May, the company had hit 116.43 grams per tonne over 3.23 metres in a similar grade control hole. Mr. Lewins, chief executive officer, says that the latest high-grade hit came from the K1 lode, but he was also enthused about the results from the K2 lode, in part because the latest intersection is now less than 150 metres along strike from the deepest hole drilled from surface by Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX: $16.67).
