New York spot gold fell $5.30 to $1,292.60 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 2.84 points to 765.94 while the TSX Gold Index slipped 1.13 points to 189.09. Most Canadian gold miners edged lower today, led by Detour Gold Corp. (DGC), which lost 25 cents to $10 on 1.58 million shares. Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) was strong. It rose 34 cents to $7.13 on 2.24 million shares.
Dustin Angelo's Anaconda Mining Inc. (ANX), unchanged at 38 cents on 127,000 shares, has received assays of up to 62.01 grams of gold per tonne over 1.5 metres from the EG gold system at its Goldboro project in Nova Scotia. The assays are from another four holes drilled on the project. The tests produced other high-grade hits, including 23.24 grams per tonne over 2.5 metres and 12.66 grams per tonne over 1.7 metres, but they fell short of previous results. Last year, Anaconda drilled 2.6 metres averaging 151.42 grams of gold per tonne and a decade earlier, drilling at Goldboro produced 81.71 grams per tonne over 2.5 metres.
