New York spot gold fell $6.60 to $1,326.20 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange regained 6.78 points to 770.56 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.58 point to 184.41. Most Canadian gold miners edged higher today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led the way, adding 43 cents to $53.63 on 912,000 shares.

Jacques Levesque and Lewis Lawrick's Anaconda Mining Inc. (ANX), down one cent to 37 cents on 142,000 shares, has received assays of up to 252.76 grams of gold over 0.4 metre at its Goldboro project in Nova Scotia. The assays are from six holes of the company's continuing 30-hole program at Goldboro, which targeted four cross sections at the eastern end of the deposit. The narrow bonanza hit occurred along the 9550E section, about 100 metres west of where a hole drilled in 2011 produced 412 grams per tonne over 0.5 metre. Anaconda managed a few other high-grade hits in its latest drilling, including 31.04 grams per tonne across one metre and 12.87 grams per tonne across two metres.
