New York spot gold gained $6.80 to $1,329.30 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.88 points to 821.18 while the TSX Gold Index lost 0.46 point to 183.38. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) led a smaller group of Canadian gold miners higher, adding 19 cents to $23.24 on 348,000 shares. Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) led the retreaters. It fell 34 cents to $4.88 on 2.63 million shares.

Bryce Bradley's Thunderstruck Resources Ltd. (AWE), up two cents to 8.5 cents on 1.51 million shares, has received assays of up to 36.1 grams of gold and 18.7 grams of silver per tonne, plus 12.5 per cent lead, from grab samples collected at the Jensen showing on the Liwa Creek project in Fiji. A second sample from the Jensen showing produced 31.8 grams of gold and 22.2 grams of silver per tonne, accompanied by 6.8 per cent lead. The rest of the assays, from 520 metres of trenching in four separate areas of the Jensen and Liwa Ridge gold showings, produced lesser amounts of precious metals and lead at Liwa Ridge, where one sample produced 8.13 grams of gold and 0.2 per cent lead.
