New York spot gold fell $1.60 to $1,338.00 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 7.92 points to 888.27 while the TSX Gold Index dropped 1.15 points to 202.63. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) led Canadian gold miners lower. It dropped 25 cents to $5.55 on 10.38 million shares. Centerra Gold Inc. (CG) was one of the few brighter lights today. It added nine cents to $6.58 on 1.55 million shares.

William Sheriff and Janet Lee-Sheriff's Golden Predator Mining Corp. (GPY), up three cents to 82 cents on 339,000 shares, has received assays of up to 81.35 grams of gold per tonne over 4.57 metres at its 3 Aces project in southeastern Yukon. The assays, from 43 grade-control drill holes into three different areas on the Central Spades zone, produced plenty of high-grade hits, including some that the company called "the highest gold assays returned to date" from the project. Other hits included 43.02 grams per tonne across 13.72 metres, 88.27 grams per tonne across 3.05 metres and 49.37 grams per tonne across 5.33 metres. These were not deep hits, with many of the high-grade intersections topping at, or within a few metres of the surface.
