New York spot gold rose $15.50 to $1,337.40 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 11.31 points to 878.20 while the TSX Gold Index added 4.75 points to 200.62. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) led Canadian golds higher today. It added $1.17 to $25.23 on 253,000 shares.
Chris Lodder's Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd. (BGM) gained one cent to 76 cents on 370,000 shares. The company has just completed a 157,000-metre drill program at Cow Mountain and Island Mountain, two high-grade targets on its Barkerville gold project in the Cariboo region of British Columbia. Nevertheless, Mr. Lodder, president and chief executive officer, pointed out just a few days ago that the company still has five rigs operating on the Shaft zone, a 2016 discovery on the Island Mountain portion of the project. Good news from Island Mountain got Barkerville's stock moving two years ago; it reached a high of $1.39 last spring, well above the 20-cent perch where is sat through 2015.
