New York spot gold gained $15.10 to $1,348.60 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.06 point to 774.05 while the TSX Gold Index added 2.97 points to 210.37. Most Canadian golds were up today, although Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) found a way to drop another 13 cents to $5.77 on 1.34 million shares. Centerra Gold Inc. (CG) had another strong day, adding 43 cents to $8.65 on 1.77 million shares.
Alan Hill and Richard Young's Teranga Gold Corp. (TGZ), down 18 cents to $3.26 on 714,000 shares, has received "positive results" from a feasibility study of its Banfora gold project in Burkina Faso. (Promoters never call their studies "so-so" and certainly not "negative," but the market is never reluctant to offer a contrary opinion.) Teranga's study is based on a reserve of 21.4 million tonnes averaging 1.69 grams per tonne, for a total of 1.2 million ounces. (There are an additional 13.9 million tonnes measured and indicated at 1.5 grams per tonne and a further 15.8 million tonnes inferred at 1.4 grams per tonne providing an additional 1.3 million ounces.)
