New York spot gold slipped $0.50 to $1,308.10 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 4.08 points to 772.92 while the TSX Gold Index slipped 0.28 point to 207.90. Most Canadian golds moved little today. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) added 11 cents to $22.38 on 5.65 million shares. Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) lost seven cents to $3.54 on 3.62 million shares.
Ewan Downie's Premier Gold Mines Ltd. (PG), down two cents to $3.88 on 1.64 million shares, has received assays of up to 1.21 grams of gold per tonne over 181.0 metres down plunge from the Hasaga porphyry deposit at its Hasaga project in the Red Lake district of Northwestern Ontario. The interval included zones averaging 2.14 grams per tonne across 19 metres and 2.21 grams per tonne across 18 metres. Another hole into a new target west of the Hasaga zone yielded 9.55 grams of gold per tonne across eight metres. The deep drilling at Hasaga also encountered 22.56 grams of gold per tonne across seven metres, helped by the occurrence of visible gold.
