New York spot gold jumped $2.90 to $1,288.70 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 4.24 points to 762.81 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.12 point to 199.41. Most Canadian golds moved little today, although Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) lost 95 cents to $19.24 on 1.51 million shares following its second quarter results.
Terry MacGibbon and Dr. Catherine Farrow's TMAC Resources Inc. (TMR), down 48 cents to $11.13 on 98,000 shares, has received assays of up to 15.3 grams of gold per tonne over 22.3 metres at Boston, on its Hope Bay project in Nunavut. Five of the seven new holes drilled at Boston returned gold, with a second producing 17.27 grams per tonne over 2.05 metres. TMAC also received assays from 36 new holes drilled at the Doris deposit. All but three of them produced gold, with one yielding 33.84 grams of gold per tonne over 3.77 metres. The longest intersection, 10.37 metres, averaged 6.1 grams per tonne.
