New York spot gold gained $1.70 to $1,267.90 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 2.80 points to 766.50 while the TSX Gold Index lost 0.21 point to 194.85. Most Canadian golds moved little again today, although Eldorado Gold Corp. (EDV) slid 18 cents to $2.32 on 6.22 million shares and Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) added 14 cents to $6.90 on 1.71 million shares.

Elgin Wolfe and Quentin Yarie's Red Pine Exploration Inc. (RPX), unchanged at 9.5 cents on 10,000 shares, has acquired a series of net smelter royalties covering portions of its Wawa gold project in Northern Ontario. The 5-per-cent royalties applied to over 40 claims on the project, and Red Pine has extinguished them for $25,000 in cash and 100,000 shares. Mr. Yarie, president and chief executive officer, says that his plan has been to clean up the existing landholdings around the Wawa gold corridor by acquiring mineral rights in what he believes are strategic areas, and the removal of the royalties is part of that plan.

Mr.Stockwatch Business Reporter,

re: Red Pine Exploration

It is nice that you finally took the time to figure out that Mr. Wolfe is no longer the Chairman after I sent you notice of such. However your comment on us dithering on picking a new Chairman is unfounded. You belittle Ms. Decher both personally and professionally and diminish her accomplishments in this sector by insinuating she was selected based on the fact she is a female.

I would think that an organization like Stockwatch would align their corporate attitudes and behaviors to a view more along the lines of Women in Mining which we proudly support. Now, more than ever, the mining industry needs to attract and retain capable, motivated people. We need to become more collaborative and innovative in how we approach the challenges that our industry faces.

"By attracting more women into the mining industry, the industry will increase its talent pool. By creating a culture in which both women and men can thrive, we will enrich our diversity of thought and help improve innovation. We welcome all women and men that understand and support this belief."

Regards

Quentin Yarie, P.Geo. CEO Red Pine Exploration.

Hey, this was awful.

Hmm. OK.

Here's a thought. If you don't want people inferring that you were looking for a woman for the role, it might not be best to dither about not having "a written policy relating to the identification and nomination of women directors and executive officers" because of the small size of the company -- and then immediately pointing out that the company had nominated Ms. Decher as a director, making her the only woman on the board.

There are plenty of women in junior exploration, many of them in senior positions. I just don't see many companies, and certainly none of the women themselves, seeing the need to point out their gender.

Bottom line -- you did that first, not me.
