New York spot gold gained $1.90 to $1,214.10 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 2.68 points to 752.54 while the TSX Gold Index added 4.08 points to 189.86. Canadian gold miners were stronger, with Klondex Mines Ltd. (KDX) gaining 33 cents to $4.46 on 2.13 million shares. Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) was a laggard. It fell 19 cents to $6.43 on 8.39 million shares.
Janet Lee-Sheriff and William Sheriff's Golden Predator Mining Corp. (GPY), up seven cents to $1.13 on 275,000 shares, has received assays of up to 20.15 grams of gold per tonne over 6.86 metres from the Spades zone at its 3 Aces project in southeastern Yukon. The assays are from another 23 holes drilled earlier this year on the project. Other noteworthy hits included 22.3 grams per tonne across 6.1 metres and 72.25 grams per tonne over a 1.52-metre interval. The new assays follow the results for 16 holes, which the company received in May. Those tests were also encouraging, producing up to 13.3 grams of gold per tonne over 39.6 metres; an interval that included a 13.71-metre zone that averaged 35.78 grams per tonne.
