New York spot gold fell $12.80 to $1,212.20 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 4.61 points to 755.22 while the TSX Gold Index dipped 4.29 points to 185.78. Canadian gold miners had another tough day. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) fell 85 cents to $56.20 on 888,000 shares while Kinross Gold Corp. (K) fell 15 cents to $4.95 on 4.94 million shares.

Randy Turner's Independence Gold Corp. (IGO), down one-half cent to 18.5 cents on 15,000 shares, has started its 2017 exploration program at the Boulevard project, 135 kilometres southeast of Dawson City in Yukon. The focus of the summer program is to define additional gold mineralization within the Sunrise-Sunset zone, although the company also hopes to discover new targets on Boulevard and elsewhere on its other properties in the White Gold district of Yukon. Independence Gold plans 1,500 metres of drilling at Boulevard this summer to pursue the gold found in 2015 and again last year. Those previous drill programs returned assays of 8.27 grams of gold per tonne over 3.1 metres and 7.73 grams per tonne over 6.1 metres.
