New York spot gold gained $3.70 to $1,250.00 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 0.73 point to 771.07 while the TSX Gold Index added 1.78 points to 202.62. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) was among the Canadian gold miners moving higher today. It gained nine cents to $3.52 on 756,000 shares. Klondex Mines Ltd. (KDX) had a tougher time. It fell 36 cents to $4.57 on 2.68 million shares.

Patrick Downey's Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE), up one cent to 78 cents on 576,000 shares, plans to drill areas with high-grade gold at its Bombore project in Burkina Faso. Mr. Downey, president and chief executive officer, says that his company has been reviewing all the old data in light of the recent higher-grade intercepts at the P17S target. He says that the significance of the old results is now appreciated because of the new geological understanding. One of the more promotable hits occurred at Siga South six years ago, when the company received assays of up to 130.2 grams of gold per tonne over 14 metres. There were several other noteworthy hits, although with lesser grades and narrower intervals, at Siga East, P11 and CFU.
