New York spot gold fell $1.10 to $1,242.50 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 6.51 points to 770.09 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.11 point to 197.35. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) traded actively, dropping three cents to $3.67 on 23.27 million shares. So did Kinross Gold Corp. (K), which fell seven cents to $5.26 on 17.08 million shares.
Keith Neumeyer and Patrick Donnelly's First Mining Finance Corp. (FF), unchanged at 64 cents on 2.33 million shares, has received assays of up to 0.81 gram of gold per tonne over 313 metres at Goldlund, near Sioux Lookout in Northwestern Ontario. The big zone included a two-metre interval that averaged 42.15 grams per tonne. The latest assays cover another 12 infill holes drilled in the company's 100-hole, 24,300-metre program that wrapped up last month. The latest batch of assays yielded some higher-grade intervals, including a 14-metre zone that averaged 6.05 grams per tonne and a 10-metre interval that assayed 4.11 grams per tonne.
