New York spot gold lost $0.90 to $1,265.50 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 5.40 points to 785.80 while the TSX Gold Index dipped 1.38 point to 207.90. Most Canadian golds moved little today, although Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) dropped 27 cents to $3.62 on 17.73 million shares. Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) was strong. It added 24 cents to $6.02 on 2.32 million shares.

Marie-Jose Girard's Dios Exploration Inc. (DOS), down one-half cent to 6.5 cents on 213,000 shares, has received assays of up to 10.3 grams of gold over one metre at its Heberto gold project in the James Bay region of Quebec. The assays, from seven new holes drilled on the property, returned "tens of metres of mineralized zones" in each hole, although the grades over those wider intervals were modest, with the interval containing the higher-grade zone yielding just 1.13 grams per tonne over 11 metres. Ms. Girard, president and chief executive officer, pointed out that a step-out hole, drilled 200 metres north along strike also yielded about one gram of gold over 12 metres, with two one-metre intervals achieving five grams per tonne.
