New York spot gold gained $0.80 to $1,279.30 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.77 points to 797.21 while the TSX Gold Index dipped 0.49 point to 208.27. Osisko Gold Royalties Ltd. (OR) jumped $1.95 to $16.35 on 3.66 million shares on word it is buying gold royalties from Orion Mine Finance Group for $1.12-billion.
John McConnell's Victoria Gold Corp. (VIT), up one cent to 65 cents on 316,000 shares, has received assays of up to 2.11 grams of gold and 2.11 grams of silver per tonne over 2.13 metres near the surface of Eagle West, a new target on its Dublin Gulch project in the Mayo district of central Yukon. The assays are from the first 22 of 41 holes completed so far in the company's $6.2-million program. Several other holes produced lesser amounts of gold and silver over significant intervals, including a 14.1-metre near-surface hit that averaged 1.24 grams of gold and 52.75 grams of silver per tonne. The other hits varied between 0.4 and 0.9 gram of gold per tonne.
